Our Vision
PFPA will be the predominant statewide advocacy organization for all sectors of the forest products industry, leading changes in state/local government policy and public perception that will enhance the bottom-line competitiveness, profitability and growth of its member companies.Mission Statement
To promote the common interests of the forest products industry within Pennsylvania by:- Creating a regulatory environment in Pennsylvania that enhances the profitability of the entire forest products industry
- Educating the public on the value of the forest products industry in Pennsylvania, and its contribution to sustainability
- Providing information about legislative and regulatory issues, technical matters, and activities within the industry.
Code of Ethics
To take the lead in our industry to adhere to a high standard of conduct complimentary of the timber and forest products profession of Pennsylvania.
- To conduct responsible timber harvesting.
- To establish and promote the use of Best Management Practices and silvicultural principles to ensure the highest level of environmental protection and a sustainable forestland base with the goal of producing a perpetual, high quality forest resource.
- To educate ourselves, employers and the public to practice a land stewardship ethic which integrates the growing, nurturing, and harvesting of trees for useful products with the conservation of soil, air and water quality, wildlife and fish habitat, and aesthetics.
- To strengthen educational and communication efforts to improve public understanding of forest management.
- To respond to and comply with all existing federal, state, and local regulations governing timber harvesting and forest products manufacturing operations.
- To support federal, state, and local politics that encourage retention and expansion of the commercial forestland base and promote long-term forestry investment by forestland owners and investors.
- To improve raw material utilization to maximize the efficient use of forest resources.
- To promote and advocate the right and obligation of private landowners to properly manage their timberland through sound timber harvesting practices.
